Last night was the set up for the IDEATION Conference . There are a number of very cool things in store for the participants.
What delighted me more than anything is the incredible energy of CREATION! A team from San Diego was brought in to produce the show. SCRAPPY and wildly creative is how I describe them. They are the ultimate in adapting for resuse! Will get the name of the team, they are GOOD!
The images of the speaker were created to host questions to the speakers. They were painted onto black paper with silver market and white paint. People will use silver markers for their questions- great idea I think!.
I am on a flight to California to graphic recording for Charles Lee'sIDEATION CONFERENCE.
It was only a few weeks ago when I found myself bumping into Dawn Carter at SXSW daily and in the most unique places. I will always treasure and love what happens when we leave the space open for things to emerge...and this is one of those times.
Dawn spoke passionately of a conference that was just a few weeks away, the participants, the speakers, and the vision. I was taking visual notes in all of the SXSW sessions I attended, Dawn always seemed nearby in the common sessions we attended, and I think she had glimpses of my notebook…needless to say, the wheels started turning for both of us.
First, we started talking about how cool it would be if someone was there to map the conference. Then, the more she described the intent and vision of this conference, the more curious I became, the more bought-in I was in HER success there.
Not more than one week later, Dawn contacted me with the opportunity. Now, here I am on a plane, reflecting on what happens when we stand in the wide open space of possibility!
Visual thinking is an important part of the creative process and the SXSW experience. Each day of SXSW Interactive brings a special keynote presentation from top thought-leaders in the industry. In order to graphically record and archive these noteworthy moments, the Saturday through Tuesday keynote sessions will have two different artists to document the discussion in real-time.
I will be mapping on Tuesday and Weds. I will be posting my images as they are created, so you get to experience SXSW, with me!
Last night I picked up my BIG BAGs. This is the image for the film section of the conference. I think it is incredible. I am overwhelmed by the sheer number of learning and experience options here. For anyone who knows me, that is a good and a bad. It almost like I will have a week to follow my thinking the way I like to do it. The interactive sessions begin today, so I will head on down there to participate in those and then off to a party I will go.
Can't wait! Follow us here for more info and I will post graphic recordings of the images as I do them.
We are passionate about telling the stories of people who have had the courage to dream, and the commitment to bring their dreams to reality.
A diverse group of twelve people have been selected to be a part of the 2010 Durham Dreams initiative. Their dreams have transformed government, education, downtown development, health, arts and business in Durham.
Over the course of this year, we will capture and share these stories in hopes that it inspires others to dream. The year will culminate in an art exhibit showcasing Eleatta’s Dream Portraits. Paintings and prints will be sold, and a portion of the proceeds will go to fund a new dream in Durham.
What an exciting evening, to be surrounded by some of the most creative, caring people in Durham who are dedicating their lives to making this city one of the best places to live in the country. Please welcome our 2010 Durham Dreamers!
